Eco Christmas decorations, gifts and stocking filler ideas from Mimimyne

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

Christmas is getting closer! I know a lot of you won’t be hearing jingle bells yet but as it is now November I thought I’d pass on some of Mimimyne’s ethical gift ideas for Christmas and I’ll keep this up over November with festive ideas you might like for your family and friends.

Firstly, if you want some Christmas decorations, Mimimyne has a beautiful eco friendly Christmas tree made from recycled cardboard from award-winning designers kidsonroof. It’s an alternative Christmas tree which makes a great talking point for guests – and it won’t drop pine needles on your floor! This is not sent by Royal Mail.

The Merry Mache Nativity Set and the Merry Mache Christmas Decoration kit are fun for the whole family to decorate. These are both made using recycled and recyclable materials and come in a reusable wooden box. These are sent direct to you by courier, so no need to worry about the postal strikes.

Eco friendly board games
(made from recycled materials, fully recyclable and using non-toxic inks) from Bioviva including Operation Survival, the Mission Range and Bioviva as well as wooden games like Hot Cocot from the Lil’wood range for younger children (made from certified wood) are great for involving the whole family, boys, girls and parents! Again, these are all sent by courier and will not cause any difficulties during the strikes. These board games make great gifts for families.

Creative Charlie is an eco friendly craft design company operating from East London. Again, every component of a Creative Charlie craft kit is either recycled, recyclable or reusable. Kerri Sellers, the company director, decided early on that she wanted to use materials that were
eco-friendly to create her craft kits, to introduce environmental
awareness to young children in a fun and creative way. We recommend her eco friendly Make Jewellery Kit,using beads from recycled magazines, as a fun stocking filler for a little girl.

The Twisted Twee Pine Tree and Cone tee shirt set for dad and baby in organic cotton is a sure fire winner for a new dad. It has a Christmassy image but the T-shirt will continue to delight until long after the festive season is over. These T-shirt sets for dad and baby are best sellers on Mimimyne and make great gifts!

‘Give a chance to beautiful handcrafted toys; bring the timeless teddy bear back in the arm of your children.’

That’s the mission statement, if you like, of Cosytots toys. Apart from the poor grammar (yes, I also correct apostrophes on signs in the greengrocers) it’s an adage I wholeheartedly agree with.

A toy that’s not been made in a factory with thousands of others exactly the same; that has been made with a bit of thought for comfort and cuddles; that has been constructed from materials that have been selected with care for the environment and the origin of said materials is the kind of toy I want LO to have and treasure. Temis seems to present all of those.

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

I’m very excited to announce that the fab organic cotton and fairly traded T shirt, organic dress and organic denim childrenswear designs by Green Eyed Monster are now available on Mimimyne. Green Eyed Monster is run by Alexandra Tham and she answered a few questions for us:

What is Green Eyed Monster?

Premium organic and Fair Trade childrenswear for the discerning baby and child. Our clothes are design-led and fashion forward, what’s more they are all ethically produced and fair trade.

What is your background?

I worked in media branding before starting Green Eyed Monster, which I co-own. I run the company as a work from home business so I can spend more time with my family.

Apart from work and kids, what do you enjoy (when you have time)?
I love films and books – anything by Martin Amis!

New Organic Wool Baby Toy Range at Mimimyne!

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

Just blogging about the new range of organic wool baby toys designed and hand knitted by Kathy Broussart at Cosytots Organics. Cosytots Organics came to life when she was tidying her daughter’s bedrooms and noticed the dust flying up from their neglected synthetic soft toys. She thought to herself “This is not what I want for my child”. She still has the teddy her parents gave her on the day she was born (Kathy is originally from Normandy but has lived in Cornwall for many years) and this was what she wanted for her children and for others.

“Restoring a tradition where teddies were your best friend,
the one you give cuddles to, the one who shares your joy
and dry your tears”

With her mum and sister, she started designing patterns, researching wool and fleece suppliers.
It took a couple of months as she knew how to knit but wanted CE certification and to find the right suppliers. She found two great companies who sell organic wool, one based in Wales and the other one in Cornwall, 20 minutes away from her house. They are British producers and she feels that nowadays it is important to support people who produce quality and care for animals and people. The whole range is now Soil Association Certified and when dyes are used they are organic certified dyes. It’s a true family business and you can be reassured that Kathy wants the best for your children as she does for her own!
