Spitalfields City Farm Apple Day

Posted under Events Mimimyne

Mimimyne had a great day out at the Spitalfields Apple Day. My children learned how to spin and card wool and pressed their own bottle of apple juice. Meanwhile, I had a stall under a marquee with the organic Post Office Bakery and the rather fabulous La Fromagerie cheese shop, which rather ate into my takings as I cannot resist delicious treats like Apple Cake. I’ve now pledged to give 1% of my profits each year to the Spitalfields City Farm and am sponsoring Orchid and Daisy, two very cute rabbits, as a start. The striking Magritte style photo below is from the Art Workshop “Step Into a Painting” run by Grow Sheffield on the day.

Eco friendly goodies available at Spitalfields Upmarket!

Posted under Events Mimimyne

Mimimyne is excited to say we’ve now got a stall at Spitalfields Upmarket in the Truman Brewery. We’re going to be in a new part of the market called the “Tea Rooms” just off the walkway to the Backyard. It’s going to be indoor rather than outdoor (sounds good to us as we’ve been lucky with weather so far, but that can’t be the case forever!) and if you come by to shop you will be able to buy a hot drink and sit down rather than tramp about, which sounds lovely. Dates are this Sunday (26th) with a break for half term, then the 9th, 16th and the 23rd. We might even become a permanent fixture!

Wrap up warm for Halloween and Bonfire Night

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

Hi friends of Mimimyne,

We’re looking forward to Halloween and a night of trick or treating! And we’re already excited about Bonfire Night. J K Lange from Teenytini is supplying us with lots of beautiful hand-crocheted gloves and scarves, in custom colours, for babies and toddlers who like to keep warm in style – check out our new stuff here. These are all hand-made in the UK from beautiful wool, cotton, cashmere and silk fibres and have natural dyes which are kind to your little one’s skin. They’d make a fab gift for a new baby or a christening too!

Another great new baby gift is our Dad and Sprog Pint and Half-Pint Combo T shirt set from Suzi Warren at Twisted Twee, whose organic range is increasing all the time. We’re going to have more of her fab designs very soon.

See you on Halloween – scary masks not included! love Mimi and Myne

Spitalfields City Farm Apple Day

Posted under Events Mimimyne

We’re going to have a stall on Sunday 19th October at the Spitalfields City Farm’s Apple Day. The Spitalfields City Farm is the charity we have decided to support and give 1% of our profits to each year: it’s a local charity, does lots for the environment and of course it is very child-friendly! We’re in the process of adopting a farm animal and will post a picture soon. Apple Day is a national event celebrating apples, orchards and local distinctiveness. It is a way of demonstrating in a fun and tasty way, the variety and richness that can be produced in a locality and how it is possible to affect change wherever we live, whether city, town or village.

The aim of Apple Day at Spitalfields City Farm will be to carry a strong environmental message on the benefits of buying local and to think about food miles & sustainability in general.

Recycled Fort

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

Green Familia mention our Recycled FortPaperpod Recycled Fort and says it would be a great Christmas present. “Dare I say it? Oh why not, I started my preliminary Xmas list last night!!! Each year it gets longer and longer, so this morning when I should have been working I was actually sussing out a few pressie ideas…”. She recommends the Paperpod Toy Fort, made out of recycled (and recyclable) cardboard as a “great idea for a pressie”. Read on

Trikidoo – definitely cool enough for school!

Posted under Uncategorized

We came across a fantastic new trike, the Trikidoo the other day: it’s a great idea, a trike for adults which will allow you to cycle your kids to tea, or to school, or to a class in safety, comfort AND style. You can take two kids on the back (yes please!) and there’s a place at the front to put a baby in a special baby carrier, it’s got storage space for changing bags/sports kits/school bags etc and it’s narrow enough to fit through your front door, so if you’ve got hallway space there’s no need to leave it outside! Our mum says it’s so green, but actually it’s pink or navy, our favourite colours.

Mimimyne will be appearing at the East London Design Show

Posted under Events Mimimyne

I love the East London Design Show for many reasons: it’s friendly, it’s a manageable size, it represents some of the best designers, crafts-people and independent retailers around in East London (which is the epicentre of all things cool, naturally) and it has a fantastic play area for children – run by Creative Charlie! – where you can entertain the kiddies with some creative workshops when not shopping till you drop. All of this in time for Christmas, so if you’re organised you can get your purchasing done in one hit (don’t forget, you’ll save on all those pesky shipping costs and retail markups, so it’s a bargain hunters paradise). And this year, Mimimyne will be making its debut appearance at the show. Need I say more? Oh yes, it’s only £4 to get in, and children under 16 are free. Dates are the 4th to the 7th December and there’s late night shopping on the Friday, perfect for a quick visit after work.

Mimimyne has been featured in Allthingseco

Posted under Mimimyne eco friendly products news

Allthingseco has featured us in its latest Eco News. Allthingseco is a great site which rounds up a lot of green news, products and services for people interested in finding out more about how to help their environment (there’s a list of farmers markets, for example, and information on recycling) so we’re very pleased to be part of it.
